USA rocks in beach volleyball

Philip Dalhausser and Todd Rogers of the United States won the gold medal by defeating Fabio Magalhaes and Marcio Araujo of Brazil 2-1 (23-21, 17-21, 15-4) on Friday in a thrilling final match in the Olympic Men’s Beach Volleyball competition. The Brazilian duo found form early in the first set, and Fabio’s block gave the Brazilian side a 6-1 lead. However, the US pair clawed back into the match, with Dalhausser showing why he has been named the best blocker in Beach Volleyball for the past two years. The 2.06m-tall American put in a pair of blocks that gave his team an 11-10 lead. The set was evenly matched, but Fabio smashed the ball into the net and gave his opponents a narrow 23-21 win in the first set. In the set second, Dalhausser blocked to earn his team a 9-8 lead, which was extended through a dink spike by Rogers. Dalhausser’s heavy spike changed the score to 13-10. Double blocks by Fabio helped his team establish a margin of three points. After the score was tied on 15-15, the Brazilian duo managed a 6-2 run which helped them beat the US pair 21-17 and force the match into a third set.

One more bronze for india

One more assured bronze medal for India in the boxing competition where vijendar kumar stormed into the semifinals assuring a bronze medal for India. The most expected tennis was a super flop show for Indians. But it is good that this time there is more than a medal for India in Beijing. GB and china rock

The countries like great Britain and china are proving great today in the Olympics. Shericka Williams of Jamaica took silver with a time of 49.69s. China’s dominance in Diving continued at the Water Cube on Tuesday, August 19, with He Chong winning the Men’s 3m Springboard with 572.90 points. The host nation has won all six Diving competitions contested in Beijing thus far and has won the Men’s Springboard in three consecutive Olympic Games.

Anju flops

India only one gold?

India is out of the boxing as the bantamweight champ akilesh kumar lost his quarter finals game against the Kazakhstan boxer in a very large margin. Earlier today table tennis women’s singles hope neha agarwal lost out to the Australian player in the preliminary round itself. There are two more boxers in the line and if they lose out then it would be a confirmed message that India will end with one gold in this Olympics.

Nadal fairs djokovic


Rafael nadal defeated djokovic in a thrilling match of three sets to go for the finals of the olympic tennis where he will face gonzalez of chile. The match proved ultimate supremacy of nadal in the first set and supremacy of djokovic in the second one. The final set was the decider which was clinched by nadal with his extremely fantastic game play. The finals is going to be on Sunday.

China vs. USA

The Chinese are proving their might in the Olympics. They have so far won 29 medals out of which seventeen gold medals are inclusive. They have hit their first gold medal in team event in the women gymnastics competition. On the other side the Americans are increasing their medals tally with the water sports side and phelps is going unstoppable. Though Americans stand first in the number of medals, they are seven gold medals behind china.

Good going at beijing

Yesterday it was a poor condition for india who came out of the first round in the shooting and pistol competitions. But today is proving to be a good day for the indians as the most expected tennis star sania mirza has qualified for the quarter finals and another sania of badminton has cleared the round prior to the quarterfinals. Also the most expected medal in the tennis doubles is still on board. On the other side the medals fight is going on stronger. Phelps has started to continue with his records in swimming and china are now topping the medals tally with three golds and a silver. Americans though with eight medals are in second position only with two golds.

Medals starts flowing in beijing

First gold medal of the Beijing Olympics has been bagged by Katerina Emmons of Czech republic. She won the medal in the Women’s 10m rifle shooting. Not only is the winner of the Women’s 10 meter Air Rifle the daughter of two-time world champion Petr Kurka, who doubles as her coach, she is also married to Athens shooting gold medallist, Matt Emmons. The medal tally has always been a great concern and is watched with more care than the sporting events. At the end it is the medal tally which matters. China is on the top of the medals tally now with two golds coming for them in weightlifting and 10m air pistol event. India lost the chance in pistol shooting which was one of the most expected one.
